The Situation
Being a woman who is advancing through her career or starting a business has its own set of challenges. Challenges that often get overlooked by well meaning family and friends and sometimes other healthcare providers.
- Work takes up most of your life and when you’re not working you might be at a loss (or have no energy) for what to do in your personal life, creating or intensifying your anxiety.
- Or there’s so much to do in your personal life that it feels like a second job and still there’s no real reprieve for you
- When you do get time for yourself, you call yourself “lazy” because it’s hard to get up and get going.
- The stress and feeling like there’s just not enough time in the day to handle your physical and emotional needs is starting to result in sleep issues and health concerns
- Your work concerns don’t stop when the work day is “over” because your responsibilities go beyond a typical “9-5” work day and require you to be available during time you’d like to be investing in your personal and family life, but it feels like pushing back or saying no is not an option
- It feels like your needs are overlooked or minimized by those around you, because on the outside it looks like you’re living the good life and you may be feeling guilty about that as well (how dare you have any issues!).
The Goal
Just reading these examples was probably exhausting yet proof that you need support, a support that doesn’t require more of you in return. It may feel like a stretch right now, but it is possible to:
- Get in touch with your needs, values, and priorities.
- Align your life to fit who you are instead of trying to make yourself fit the life you’ve always been told you “should” have.
- Leverage your talents, training and passion to take the next step on that career/business path that invigorates you and supports the life you’re designing for yourself.
- Learn to find a healthy balance in life where you’re able to honor your needs and replenish yourself, enabling you to have healthier, more fulfilling relationships with your loved ones.
- Deal with past traumas (and the grief and anxiety related to them) so you’re able to move forward in your life, not letting the past dictate decisions you make about your future.
- Improve your health on every level by creating a healthier lifestyle that allows you to feel connected, aligned, and in control of your mental, physical, spiritual and financial health.
